Sandstone, Australia: 5m grading 14.2g/t Au from 36m depth (MSRC052)
(Oct 12, 2016)
Infill and extensional drilling at the Shillington, Shillington North and Two Mile Hill openpit deposits has solidified Middle Island Resources’ (AU: MDI) confidence in its Sandstone project in Western Australia.
In the process of putting together a prefeasibility study on Sandstone, the company has come across some tasty hits worth flagging up at the former operating mine.
The intercepts, which are generally consistent with historic drilling, include 5m grading 14.2g/t Au from 36m depth, 10m at 4.12g/t Au from 78m depth and 16m averaging 2.26g/t Au from 61m depth.
All of these are higher grade than the existing resource from 2011 at Sandstone (11Mt at 1.4g/t Au for 480,000oz of gold in the indicated and inferred categories), hence why the company is working on updating the JORC statement.
In tandem with an updated resource calculation, the company is carrying out a phase-two geophysical survey at the Two Mile Hill deposit – where the majority of resources are located – and readying the drill rigs for a 1,500m diamond core drill programme targeting further mineralisation
