Rio Tinto will explore new low-cost lithium mines

Andrew Latham, head of the Rio Tinto Group investment department, recently stated that its operating costs for the Jadar Lithium mine project in Serbia are low, attracting a large number of investors.

Rio Tinto will explore new low-cost lithium mines.

The Jadar mine will produce 50,000 tons of lithium carbonate annually, and it is expect to expand the scale of production in the future. This project has obtained a large amount of investment, maintaining the mine for many years. The Jadar mine is about 140 kilometers west of Belgrade.

It is scheduled to begin production in August 2013, and it will meet 10% requirement of the world’s lithium ore at that time.
